FAANG FIRE's current annual run rate is a whopping $40-50k right now. Not exactly rolling in it. My wife is still working and covers all our expenses while still maxing out every retirement account we have access to.
Huge congrats Andre, what a milestone. Living in SF for a bit over a year now, I’m really looking forward for your “What would be enough in San Francisco” post.
We are looking to do a case study in the Bay Area Choose FI. You should join. Your experience and knowledge will be helpful :) Congrats on being officially semi-FIRED'd!
Congrats, but not on Semi-FIRE. When I saw your expenses graph "Spending by group," I had to laugh. Looking at the Children category, I knew immediately why the sudden decrease in expense. Sadly for me, I have a 5 year old Kindergartner (= no daycare) and a 16 month old (= daycare). So, delayed congrats on not having daycare expense anymore. HA! :)
I have never personally explored the option. There are a handful of countries that tend to be popular among the FIRE crowd since they are relatively affordable and have various golden visa programs. That landscape changes regularly though.
Congrats! Do you mostly coach folks who are on the cusp of FIRE and want help validating that, or a lot of aspirational people who are still a ways off, the whole mix? Very cool read, glad you've embraced the semi-FIRE!
Really the whole mix. Many people have tended to be mid-career, starting to earn higher incomes/equity, and are wanting to establish a stronger foundation to build from with the FIRE piece more aspirational.
Congrats and... TC?

Oh I meant that as a joke response to your question of what would be the congratulations line for FAANG FIRE. Blind had the “TC?” culture.
Haha, yeah I figured. I appreciate numbers as much as the next guy though! So I'll thread the needle where I can.
Ah I understood better now and actually do appreciate knowing the numbers!!

I’m just waiting for all the pre registrations for summer camp to land before I celebrate!
I’m curious if any of you have done the expense computation for raising kids in a different country, say somewhere in Europe.
